Ah news travels fast. :)

I’m popping over to Auckland as we’re actually thinking of emigrating! I already have a job offer (just confirmed last night actually), so I’m coming over to have a chat to them and meet a few people to see how we can make the transition as smooth as possible.

We were in NZ about 4 years ago and fell in love with the lifestyle there. You guys are just so chilled out!

My brother is already there so things will be easier for us I hope :)

There are third party dashboard widgets and stuff, but I agree - what could possible be wrong with having the functionality in AddressBook.app?

I started a thread on this topic on the Apple Support forums. Others were unimpressed to notice the same thing.

When I suggested that maybe the feature had been removed because they couldn’t get it to play along with the iPhone, the thread was deleted within about 15 minutes.

Apple Support told me that feature requests were not appropriate topics for the support forums :P

Way to go.

I’ve been a happy Apple user for some time, switching between OSX (laptop) and Linux (desktop), but this is the sort of marketing-driven nonsense that made me jump ship from Windows a decade ago.

Here’s hoping they sort out their issues with the iPhone and restore the functionality I found so handy.

I am fuming with Apple for removing this feature. I thought we were beyond the days when using an Apple computer was akin to “Driving a Ferrari - the catch being, you can only drive on 10% of the roads!” As much as I love Leopard, I miss the features that I have lost more than the I enjoy the features I have gained!

I used that all the time also, because my phone is a bitch to write SMS messages on. I find Leopard to be quite a nuisance because of little things like that. Another thing is the calculator not working or (for me) the DVD player not working. Not to mention loads of 3rd party drivers that no longer (and probably never again) work.

Well, if you use Skype, it integrates with the Address Book, so you can ‘Send SMS via Skype’ from within Address Book. Not as nice, but it’s something!

Just checked the latest Leopard update 10.5.1. Still the same :(

I used to use this all the time. Baffled as to why would they remove it!
